The invitation

Date: 7/27/03 1:39:24 AM Eastern Daylight Time

As the Prince of RavenBlack I greet you
Within the last 2 months you have decided to join the RavenBlack message board attached to the RavenBlack vampire game. I hope that you are enjoying the game.

At this time I would like to offer you an invitation to join our vampire community known as the Capadocian Dynasty. Our Dynasty is a composition of many different clans united under one purpose which is to further the vampiric race. We embrace the fact that we are evil and the rightful rulers of the city of RavenBlack. Each clan serves a different function in our community. Some clans fight for the protection and dominance of our Dynasty, others collect coins from vampires in the form of taxes to fund our many programs such as the battle clans, our necromancer funds to heal wounded members and our on going gathering of intelligence. The Intelligence that we gather comes from the clan that infiltrates other non-Dynasty clans, our spies and the clan that gathers all the information about the various locations such as the shops and guilds. We have the most accurate map in the entire city as well thanks to them.

The link that I am inviting you to is to our Dojo. At the Dojo our trainers will help you get your powers, teach you how to maximize gathering coins and teach you more about our society and each of the clans. In the Dojo you will meet friends and expand what this game means to you. After completion of your training you will be accepted into a clan that meets your interests. The main thing that you are required to do in our Dynasty is to have fun! I hope that you will join us.

The invitation is gratefully recieved, and I recognize it as the honor it is meant to be....however, if it is not impertinent, I would like to inquire further before making a decision.

I recognize that yours is clearly the most powerful and influential grouping of clans, and that ignoring or outright refusing membership carries significant consequences which can't possibly be comprehended by one so new in the tooth. I don't mean to offend, certainly not, and am intrigued by the offer of inclusion...I'm just curious if I've done something to merit it other than merely popping up on the radar as something to assimilate or remove. I'd like to think that the invitation indicates I have potential value beyond mere demographics however I am wise enough to know that presumptions are dangerous indeed and the best choices are informed choices for all parties concerned.

Also, because I am a new vampire who is the Master of a bloodline, I have no Sire to instruct me in the ways of houses and clans, and am therefore on my own in knowing what and whom to trust in this obviously dangerous city.

You have shown yourself to be, in my short tenure as a vampire observing discussion threads, to be an even handed and fair (though evil) leader, clearly more than capable of handling the heavy demands of leadership and the vast duties you have to the running of the city...but if I am to serve you well, should I choose to do so, I believe I need a more personal and more detailed discussion of the benefits and pitfalls of joining your dojo.

Is such a discussion possible? Or given the weight of your duties is such a discussion impracitable for you?

If I join the Dynasty, do I bring my entire bloodline with me? Do they become part of the Dynasty and receive its benefits but I alone represent them at the Dojo? Do a keep the invitation secret from them or anyone else? I am so new to all this that I fear to make a decision that I will regret for what I hope will be a very long un-life, and I feel a responsibility to my childer to find out as much as I can in order to act in their best interest.

Please advise, Great One, and know that whatever the response, my greatest hope is that this invitation result in friendship and not enmity, regardless of the decision on the matter of service and allegience.

Yours in faith and eager anticipation of a speedy response,

Hans Abbadon

I am greatful that you have responded and I would like to take this time to
answer a few of your questions.

1st of all I believe that we are all what we make ourselves. If we wish to
be leaders others will follow, I will allow for you to make the decision of
wether you will become a leader in our Dynasty or not.

Your family is very welcome to join the Dojo and membership is not
secretive, it is an honor that you should share with all that will hear you.
Within the Dojo you will be trained on how to best get powers recover BPs
from the BPs lost after getting stamina and so on. You will be trained on
how to gain BPs the fastest, which powers are best to get first and
information about the Dynasty and the various clans that make it up. We will
help build you into a vampire that is both feared and respected in the city.
I hope that you will consider this offer and join us. I regrete that we have
no allies other than the ones in the Dynasty. We need no allies as we are
powerful enough to take what we want when we want it. Inside the Dynasty we
are a family and very protective of each other. To attack a Capadocian is
certainly the best way to be zeroed and kept zeroed. We are each others best
friends and respect each other. If you have more questions please be
specific and I will try to answer each one of them for you.

Sweet Prince, Gracious Emperor,

I thank you for your generous reply to my general questions, and the extended invitation to those of my bloodline to also join the dojo and the Dynasty.

> I hope that you will consider this offer and join us. I regrete that we have

I move closer to accpeting with each passing breath, and I do not miss the subtext in the above "regret" that you have no allies, meaning, I am certain, that should the offer be declined no other alliance with non-dynasty vampires is possible. Your greatness and power is accentuated by your subtlety.

> If you have more questions please be
> specific and I will try to answer each one of them for you.

I have discussed our opportunity with the highest and most loyal members of my bloodline, and only these questions are felt to be in need of answers before coming to a final decision:

1) Do those who join the dojo have input as to which clan within the Dynasty they join and the duties to which they are assigned?

1a) Are these assignations permanent?

1b) Will I retain control over my House as a member of another's clan?

1c) Is leadership of a clan of my own a reasonable aspiration if assigned at such an early stage to someone else's clan?

2) Do all members of my House become members of the clan to which I am assigned or will members of my house have to apply for membership individually and be distributed to other clans? If so, what of their allegience to their Sire?

3) If only I and one or two leaders in my house join the dojo, is it an offense to teach the lessons we learn their to our house members? If the invitation is not secret, is the information aquired at the dojo secret?

4) Do the protections afforded by joining the Dynasty extend only to those members of my house who come to the dojo or to the entire House? Not all in my bloodline are known to me (sent me an email confirming who they are, and so only the vampire names are known to me--and are on a list of "lost childer" to be found and brought "home".)

5) What is considered by the Dynasty to be an attack against one of its members, and how is the attack reported? It seems that being drained of blood or robbed is a common, almost routine occurance, so does an "attack" mean only being scolled or attacked with HW?

6) Does an offense against the Dynasty by one member of the House constitute a black mark against the entire House? For instance, if one of the Lost Childer of my Bloodline commits an attack, do we all pay? Or perhaps a distinction may be made between the House and the Bloodline, so that only those in the Bloodline who have made contact and given their email to me confirming their place in the House are House members and therefore would be members of the Dynasty?

7) How are members of the Dynasty known to each other within the City? How do we keep from accidentally attacking a Dynasty member when the Dynasty is so vast?

I apologize if these questions are not specific enough, or if they are covered by lessons within the dojo.

My officers and I are becoming more eager with each night to join this powerful grouping of clans--realizing of course that the responsibility is our own to prove our worthiness. We merely desire to know that what we will strive for is what we actually wish to achieve.

Yours in great anticipation,
Hans Abbadon

Yes, you get to go where you are most comfortable, we will try to direct
vampires however to where we need them the most.

> 1a) Are these assignations permanent?

You may shift to a new clan if you wish, and new duties.

> 1b) Will I retain control over my House as a member of another's clan?

How many members do you have? You can either be a team in a clan all
together if that is what you all want or you could have a separate clan all
together if you have 12 members.

> 1c) Is leadership of a clan of my own a reasonable aspiration if assigned at

Leadership is very attainable in this Dynasty, the creame rises to the top.

> 2) Do all members of my House become members of the clan to which I am

Your members will be allowed to do as they please. They can stay with you or
they may separate, it is up to them.

> 3) If only I and one or two leaders in my house join the dojo, is it an

Well, if your members do not wish to be members of the Dojo they can still
join the Dynasty under you. If they want to join independantly I would
suggest that they join through the Dojo.

> 4) Do the protections afforded by joining the Dynasty extend only to those

Well, until your childer are brought into the Dynasty they are not protected
by us.

One HW or a Scroll of turning could be an accident or just someone that is
new trying out the devices. We warn these people and then only if they
continue to attack us do we worry about zeroing them. Most attacks on us are
obvious, HW and many scrolls. Robbing can be an attack if it was for a large
some of money and we warn them to give it back and then they refuse.

Individuals are responsible for their own actions, we deal with individuals
as separate entities until we find out that an entire clan is working
against us.

> 7) How are members of the Dynasty known to each other within the City? How
> do we keep from accidentally attacking a Dynasty member when the Dynasty is so

Our targets are selected for a reason, so we know for sure that they are not
Dynasty members. Also it is nearly impossible to know everyone in the
Dynasty so the rule is that if you steal alot of money from a member of the
Dynasty and they want it back, you have to return it.

I hope that these answers were clear enough to serve you. Please feel free
to ask more of me if you need me.

Absolutely.

I will join, as will my First, Cristiana. We are a very new bloodline, with only 10 members as yet, and only 5 of them known to me, and only four of those have proven their complete loyalty. We are all new, but eager to learn.

I will extend the invitation to the remaining members and allow them to choose for themselves.

I welcome the opportunity to serve, and will join the dojo within 24 hours.

In the mean time, please, if you have a moment, examine my house pages and alert me to any incorrect or offending statements.
